TRAINING RULES
(Adopted November 10, 2003)
ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO
A student found to have used or have been in possession of alcohol, drugs, and/or tobacco will be suspended from both practices and playing at all extracurricular activities in the Hot Springs School District for;
1. Forty-five (45) school days for the first offense
2. Ninety (90) school days for the second offense
3. One calendar year for the third offense.
Any of these penalties may be reduced by 50% if the student, accompanied by a parent/guardian, attends and successfully completes a school approved alcohol, drug, and tobacco treatment program after the infraction but prior to the reduction of the penalty.
DRUGS (NON PRESCRIPTION)
A student found to have used or have been in possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia will be suspended from both practice and playing at all extracurricular activities in the Hot Springs School District for;
1. Ninety (90) school days for the first offense
2. One hundred eighty (180) days for the second offense.
3. One calendar year for the third offense with no reduction.
Any of the above penalties may be reduced by 50% if the student, accompanied by a parent/guardian, attends and successfully completes a school approved drug treatment program after the infraction but prior to the reduction of the penalty.
THEFT AND VANDALISM
Theft or damage to school property in excess of $25 will result in the same penalties as stated in the alcohol, drugs, and tobacco policy. Full restitution will be required before a student may be reinstated into an extracurricular activity. Depending upon the severity of the theft and/or damage, the distrcit may impose other penalties as well.
Students may reduce the appropriate amount up to 50% by performing voluntary service for the district in the amount of hours equal to the number of school days by which the penalty is reduced.
PRACTICES
All practices are mandatory. Players will only be excused when prior notice is given to coaches. Reason for missing practice must be substantial (i.e. doctor appointment, family needs, etc.) You must be in school if you plan on practicing or playing on any day unless you have a doctor's excuse.
CURFEW
Weekdays 11:00 p.m. at home
Night before a game 10:00 p.m. at home
Weekends 12:00 a.m. at home
As a participant in the Hot Springs Extra-Curricular Program, I agree to follow the training rules prescribed above and participate in the random drug testing policy adopted by Hot Springs School. My parents or guardian agrees to enforce these rules at home.
